A Holistic Education Programme is one that involves transformative learning. This means that each student has an opportunity to learn many things about themselves and their abilities whilst progressing in the required basics of educational subjects. COMPONENTS

The programme consists of a number of Component Courses designed to teach subjects an a gradient in an easy to learn manner. All students become eager to learn and quickly realise that learning can be fun.

StUdy Skills MASTERY COURSE

This unique course presents cutting edge study tools and techniques which teach students How to Learn and gives students the confidence and certainty to study anything throughout the course of their entire lives. This course is unsurpassed in any study training seen before. The Study Tools learned can be applied to specific identifiable Barriers that hinder full conceptualisation, and as a result, students become bright, alert and willing to keep learning. This course is the foundation key to all our learning programmes, and we take all our students through this course to help establish the fundamental abilities of study and learning for life.

This course not only rehabilitates a love for learning, but also teaches a new way to comprehend and retain learned material. Comprehension and understanding is taught in a very unique and progressive way. Most students are trained to read robotically, passing over words they do not understand. In contrast, the holistic Word Awareness Technique in this course, teaches both the value and meaning of words as well as the ability to apply what is learned. Students become “Super Literate” learners, with expanded literary and comprehension skills.

This course is a must for anyone who wants to not only improve their ability to learn and consolidate knowledge, but to power forward on any chosen career path.

FABULOUS PHONICS COURSES 1-6  

Phonics awareness is complex and the Fabulous Phonics course teaches students about sounds and spelling, using explicit, systematic synthetic phonics. This section of the programme concentrates on teaching the 44 distinctive phonological units of sound, and gives the student a clear understanding of how combinations of letters can make one sound. Students of all ages, quickly master a solid foundation in Spelling. Levels 1 through to 8, build fluent spelling skills, vocabulary, comprehension and written expression with work sheets and exercises for each lesson.

PUNCTUATION MATTERS COURSE

This course covers all elements of correct Punctuation and effective editing skills. This course carefully teaches each student all the correct uses of capital letters, commas, colons, semi colons, quotation marks, and dialogue. Students consolidate all their learning with practice exercises and study skills.

SEnsational sentences Course

This is a course that has been designed to teach the fundamental elements of a sentence as well as the different types of sentences and how to use them effectively in writing. Students learn the art of engaging writing, using advanced descriptive language and proper punctuation.

GREAT GRAMMAR COURSE

The grammar section of the programme provides students with an interactive and creative way to learn all the elements of sentence structure and parts of speech. It focuses on the use and knowledge of language conventions in written standard English, and these skills are essential to the development of reading and writing. All our students become experts in proper Grammar and feel very accomplished after mastering all their Grammar components to a superior standard.

LITERARY TECHNIQUES COURSEs 1-4

Some of these courses are a precursor to the Writing Conventions Course and teaches all aspects of Literary Devices required for impressive essay writing and analysis. The fundamental elements of Figurative Language Course 1 covers Simile, Metaphor, Personification and more. Figurative Language Course 2, builds on knowledge from course 1 and covers 12 more Techniques such as Rhetorical Question, Symbolism, Juxtaposition and more. The Stylistic Features Course 3 covers writing techniques such as Syntax, Genre, Mood, Tone, Voice and more. The Structural Elements Course 4 covers literary writing as well as critical analysis skills.

WRITING CONVENTIONS COURSE

This Course helps the student not only master all forms of essay writing, but also shows how they can be helpful in future career and life choices. The course has been uniquely designed to teach a thorough understanding of all the component parts of effective text writing on a gradient. The course covers different forms of text writing such as Persuasive, Factual, Narrative, Descriptive, Resume Writing, Book Reports and Procedure Writing.

NUMERACY SKILLS PROGRAMME

Learning the basics of Mathematics can sometimes be very confusing and often a skill has not been adequately learned and practiced before moving on to something new. Students often get left behind and eventually give up on something that is quite simple, given adequate opportunity to consolidate.

This programme covers the Australian Curriculum of Maths. It begins at a stage that the student is completely ready for, and students move along at their own pace on a gradient that is appropriate to their learning ability.

LEARNING TIMES TABLES

Learning the tables are an essential part of Numeracy Skills. Without knowing the basics of the times tables students may find that their efficiency in completing exams may be slowed down and hence they are unable to complete tasks in the allotted time schedule. As a results grades can suffer due to a simple thing such as not knowing the Times Tables efficiently. We have developed a very simple mindful technique for learning the Times tables which not only teaches the tables in a fast and easy manner, but also improves concentration and cognitive skills. MINDFUL LEARNING PROGRAMME

Learning depends upon many factors which are constantly interacting with each other. These factors can include emotional, psychological or neurologically-based processing determinants. Any one of these factors can determine a student's capacity for learning, their organisational skills, abstract reasoning, memory and attention abilities. The conscious learning programme is based on practical exercises grounded in mindfulness principles, and is one of our key components for all students.

Mindfulness has recently grown in popularity due to its remarkable affects upon a student's ability to concentrate and study. Mindfulness Learning practices give students the opportunity to settle and calm themselves, and to take personal control of their ability to initiate, monitor and direct their attention. 

Live and Learn Services extensively trains all our Holistic Educators to deliver cutting edge Mindful Awareness Drills which not only increases the brain’s executive functions such as working memory, planning and organisational skills, but also helps to restore the student’s native abilities and sovereign sense of self. Evidence based results show that the Live and Learn Services Academy can help students to find confidence and certainty in their studies throughout their academic careers and lives.

The programme can also be tremendous value to those students who have learning difficulties such as: Auditory Processing Disorder, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, Dyslexia, Attention Deficit Disorder/ADD, Visual Perceptual/Visual Motor Deficit, Executive Functioning, memory and non-verbal learning disabilities.
