In today’s ever changing world, little thought or attention is given to our inner world and what we are capable of. As a result of this, a student begins to form a limited identity of themselves based on their external conditioning and experiences, and they tend become stuck in these limiting beliefs. This learned view of themselves can often leave students feeling inadequate, fearful and often unmotivated to pursue studies.

Conscious Mindful practices have surged in popularity in recent years, and is now practiced in schools, hospitals, healing centres and even in the corporate world. These conscious practices teach students how to be still and focused, how to connect with their inner wisdom and how to be confident and happy with themselves.

WHAT IS MINDFUL AWARENESS?

Mindfulness is a developed practice of maintaining a moment-by-moment, awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment. It is the act of giving one’s attention to the present time moment.

Mindfulness is the acceptance of what “is.” This means that we pay attention to our thoughts and feelings, without judging them or trying to alter them in any way. Students who practice mindfulness, are able to tune into what they are sensing in the present moment, rather than turning attention to past experiences, upsets, fears or doubts. When students are able to accept a situation or a condition without resistance, they find that it is easier to manage and overcome daily challenges, thoughts and emotions, and as a result, are more likely to stay focused, and are able to learn and develop freely and uninhibited.
